Waniati Maternal Waiting Home

Reduction of Maternal and Infant mortality rate in Eastern Highlands Province through “Maternal Waiting Home”
Welcome to Waniati Maternal Waiting Home Official Website!

Waniati Maternal Waiting Home was founded in 2020, with a vision to serve the pregnant mothers of the rural and outer urban areas of Goroka, in the Eastern Highlands Province of Papua New Guinea.

Our programmes aim to combat maternal mortality, as well as providing postnatal services, empowering survivors of all forms of violence, promoting active participation in socio-economic activities, and fostering the spiritual well being of those in our care.

Our motto, "Serving the Unserved", fuels our ethos of saving the lives of mothers and newborns. Waniati MWH is proud to be actively working alongside other vested partners toward the common goal of reducing maternal and infant mortality across the Highlands, and to date the efforts of our team have impacted the lives of thousands of women and children across our marginalized and disadvantaged, rural and outer urban communities.

In the future, our hope is to see MWH established at our district health facility and eventually to also see maternal waiting homes reach throughout other provinces across Papua New Guinea.

This website tells the stories of the diligent and inspirational work of our partners, our staff and our volunteers.

We hope it will serve as an inspiration, encouraging others within our communities to similar work and support, while also acting to strengthen and grow our association.

Woman’s Health is Everyone and Everybody’s Business.
